Community news on behalf of Richmond Shakespeare Society | 11 January 2024
From 20 to 27 January, the Richmond Shakespeare Society will present Measure for Measure at the Mary Wallace Theatre.
This will be a a modern-dress production of Shakespeare's most enigmatic and rarely performed play. Hotel owner, Vincentio, takes a sabbatical, leaving his deputy, Angelo, in charge, instructing him to maintain strict standards of behaviour and morality in his absence.
Abusing his new-found power, Angelo blackmails young Isabella with the threatened execution of her brother. "Is this her fault or mine? The tempter or the tempted, who sins most?"
Performances take place at 7.45pm. On Sunday 21 January, there will be a Matinee at 3pm.
On Monday 29 January at 7.45pm, the RSS will hold open auditions for their April production of Othello. The role of Othello will be played by an actor of colour. For more information, contact secretary@rss-mwt.org.uk.
