Changing lives together – support Richmond's young people and families
3 April 2025
One in five children and young people in England aged 8 to 25 had a probable mental health disorder in 2023, according to NHS England. With numbers expected to rise, urgent action is needed.
The Richmond upon Thames Voluntary Fund (Registered Charity: 1186870) is launching its sixth annual appeal, raising crucial funds for local charities that provide life-changing support for young people and their families.
This year, the fund’s trustees have selected six charities dedicated to improving the wellbeing of young people in Richmond. Every contribution will directly support:
- ADHD Embrace – Supporting children with ADHD and their families through advice, workshops, and school outreach
- Home-Start Richmond, Kingston & Hounslow – Helping vulnerable families with young children through early intervention and one-on-one support
- Marble Hill Playcentres – Providing inclusive outdoor play sessions for children, including those with additional needs
- Off The Record Twickenham – Offering free and confidential mental health support and counselling for young people
- The Otakar Kraus Music Trust – Providing music therapy to children and young people with disabilities
- Skylarks – Delivering therapies, activities, and support for children with disabilities and their families
Your contribution will help make it possible to for these charities to continue to provide a range of support for our children and young people. See below for examples of how your money will be used.
Councillor Penny Frost, Chair of Richmond Council’s Education and Children’s Services Committee and trustee of the Fund, said:
"Children and young people facing mental and physical health challenges need support to reach their full potential. By funding therapies, resources, and essential services, we can help them build resilience, independence, and lead fulfilling lives."
Gillian Norton OBE DL, Chair of the Richmond Voluntary Fund, added:
"The generosity of Richmond residents is inspiring. Last year, we raised more than £87,000 to support three incredible charities. This year, we are expanding our impact. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps transform lives.
"Thank you to those who have donated to the last five appeals and to those who will donate this year."
